Our Favorite Baby Shower Trends – The Binky Box

Our Favorite Baby Shower Trends

Whether you are planning a baby shower for a friend or family member or picking out ideas for your own, we’ve decided to lay out all of the top baby shower trends for 2020. From balloon garlands, to elaborate charcuterie boards, to flower walls, and fancy invites, these are just a few of the top trends we are seeing at baby showers right now.

Although a lot of showers are gender-specific, we have also noticed a beautiful gender-neutral theme become popular amongst showers even if the gender has been announced. Instead of your typical pink or blue party, these elegant themes have a lot of whites, creams, and golds with pops of fresh greenery everywhere you look. Not only is this theme beautiful to the eye, but it is also great for photographing your special day.

Gone are the days where finger sandwiches and fruit platters are all you see. Walking into a baby shower in 2020 means you are likely to come across a beautiful array of different foods spread across cutting boards or even an entire counter. Charcuterie board displays are one of the newest and most delicious trends we are seeing. These displays, like the one pictured below, often contain an assortment of fresh fruits, different types of gourmet cheese, cured meats, nuts, spreads, and some type of baguette or cracker. These are a delicious treat that will accommodate all appetites!

Along with your typical baby shower decor, another popular decoration we are seeing is the new balloon garland trend, and it is sure to add fun, color, and beauty to the shower. Whether you are creating an archway over an entryway, a wall of garland, or cascading garland down a staircase, you can rest assured that this will be a big hit.  Not only does it add something special to the party, but it also creates a great backdrop for the mom to be to take pictures with her friends and family to remember her special day.

Fresh flowers at showers are nothing new, but this year we have noticed that just like the balloon garland, the flowers have become a “main attraction.” With Instagram posts and photo-ops being all the rage, floral walls have become a new trend across baby showers. If you choose to do a floral wall, a great spot for them is behind the cake table or behind the area that mom will be opening gifts.

Lastly, picking the perfect baby shower invite can sure be a challenge when there are so many beautiful ones to choose from. We recommend picking your top choices that match the colors and theme you are going with and narrow it down from there. Not only do you want it to match the theme of the shower, but you want it to be something special that the mom to be would love too! Some of our favorite places to shop beautiful baby shower invites are Minted and Shutterfly.

While all of these elaborate elements may seem daunting and you suddenly feel overwhelmed at the thought of planning the most perfect baby shower, what makes a shower special is the gathering of family and friends to shower mom and baby. So your shower may feature all of these trends, or maybe you decide to keep it sweet and simple. Whichever you choose will be special regardless of how many balloons are cascading down.

Some other finishing touches that are practical for any baby shower are a cute children’s book to use as a guest book for friends and family to leave sweet messages, some framed pictures of mom and dad when they were little on display, and some small vases filled with fresh flowers. Another unique and cost-efficient option is to create a foam board sign to greet guests using an Etsy design and a local printer. This is great to use next to a front door, or if you are using a venue and need to direct guests to the right location. These elements are sure to make any shower special!

Whether you are hosting a shower or getting ideas for your own, we hope the day is all that you hope for it to be and more! We hope momma-to-be feels loved, blessed, and prepared for her sweet baby to arrive!

Happy Planning!
